trauma-informed Psychotherapy & Counselling - in primrose hill and online
Open to your Self, and expand your capacity to live life with aliveness.
Welcome to Settled Self Therapy
Psychotherapy grounded in curiosity, connection, and care.
Not sure what’s behind how you’re feeling? You don’t have to know what’s wrong to start therapy - we’ll discover that together. All you need to do is get in touch, and we’ll go from there.
Hi, I’m Kate, a qualified, BACP-registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
The way I work is relational because our world is made up of relationships - with ourselves and other people, to our beliefs and values, and our hopes and fears.
There’s often a tension in the way we relate to these: to what hurts, what’s been lost, or what feels impossible to face. In therapy, we explore all these and each week, always begin with whatever matters most to you.
I believe how you respond to life makes complete sense. That you make sense in context - and coming to understand these contexts is the work of therapy. Here awareness can open to acceptance, and curiosity meet care.
We all deserve to feel understood, and to be met with compassion.
Ways to meet you where you are
Sometimes what brings you to therapy may be crystal clear. Other times, it’s not. You don’t need to have anything figured out before getting in touch.
Perhaps something has happened and you need support through a really tough time. Short-term Counselling might be just what you need. If all you know is that something doesn’t feel right - and you want to understand yourself and what’s going on better - then longer-term Psychotherapy is perhaps more suitable.
If what you need most is help managing the day to day, and some practical nervous system regulation coaching. This is what Settle Into Your Self offers in a toolkit to expand your capacity to feel your feelings and recalibrate stress spikes. Think guidance, resourcing, and toolkit - all tailored to meet your individual needs.
Still have questions? Why don’t we arrange a time to speak and see if we can answer them?
-
Every therapeutic relationship is different, and ours will be different to any other you may have had - which is why we begin with a free Intro Call.
Rather than simply talking through practicalities, we'll speak much as we would in therapy. You can get a genuine sense of how I listen, respond and engage with you, and notice how it feels to talk together.
There's no obligation to continue afterwards. If it feels like we might work well together, we can talk about what beginning could look like.
-
Trauma-sensitive therapy means working with your capacity, rather than pushing you into feelings or experiences before you're ready. Sometimes that means slowing down, taking our time or developing more resources first.
We begin with what's here for you now. The past may become important when it's showing up in your life today, but we don't go looking for it simply because it's there.
We'll also pay attention to what you notice in your body, alongside your thoughts, feelings and experience.
You have a say in what you most want for yourself from each session, and from therapy more broadly. We'll keep returning to what feels important to you.
-
The current fees for Psychotherapy and Counselling start from £70 per 50-minute session, and go up to £110. We will discuss what’s right for you on our Discovery Call, and review that when your circumstances change.
If you have any questions about fees or payment, just mention on this during our call.
Please don’t let that be a blocker to beginning therapy. We’ll figure it out. -
Therapy gives us space to explore what brings you, following what feels most important as we work together.
Nervous System Coaching, through Settle Into Your Self, is more structured and practical. You'll learn and practise ways to expand your capacity to regulate, with resources you can draw on outside our sessions.
If you're not sure which would suit you best, we can talk this through when we speak.
